All-in-all 2014 was a good year for me financially. I had my most productive and lucrative year to date in my full-time job and managed to grow my AMSOIL business by 276% over last year.
An area that I am weak is in my Retail on the Shelf and Commercial Account sales. I simply have not put any effort into growing this side of my business. As much as I know this is a very important area of my business to grow if I want to see substantial increases in profits, I don't see myself working this area very much in the coming year. Perhaps when I retire from my day job...we'll see.
Sales by Product
I have more Powersports customers than anything else (mostly Harley Davidson owners) but each purchase they make is smaller than those by car and truck owners.
Drivetrain products also sell reasonably well for me. I had a good run selling Severe Gear 75-90 for a while but that has dried up a little lately. Signature Series ATF with the red label has also been a decent seller.
Filters haven't been a huge volume seller for me but I'll work on this for 2015 so hopefully I will see some improvements here.
Other products include fuel additives, brake fluid etc. are not a big volume seller and I don't plan to put extensive effort into this category in 2015 other than offering some up-sell items to motor oil customers when appropriate.
The year finished with $7963 USD in gross income (an increase of $5846 USD or 276% of 2013). At today's exchange rate, that is nearly $9450 Canadian...not bad for a side project but my plan is to grow this substantially in the years to come.
My goal for 2015 is to increase my monthly income to $2000 (see this post for info). This equates to roughly $20,000 USD for 2015. It's big goal but I believe it to be attainable with some effort.
